Current MAFs will throw code 36 because they don't implement the burn circuit. They don't requires the cleaning, unlike the originals (should use MAF cleaner annually instead).
Options:
- Find a salvage, as mentioned.
- Buy a really expensive ($600?) MAF that is to all the original specs, including the burn circuit.
- Have someone disable code 36 in the ECM MEMCAL. This should be about $100, but varies depending on who and/or if they replace the original EPROM with a Flash replacement (a good idea).
I kept with third party and had code 36 disabled, works fine for my '87.
