Default MAF sensor

In the process of rebuilding my 89 motor and need to replace the MAF sensor. Is there a brand that works better with a slightly modified engine? Thanks

YES !!!! Your MAF is a 'hot wire' style - now obsolete. Slot style is now what you want BUT requires an adapt to your tune ........

You do not have to, OEM is fine.

I would stick with the original style myself as well. Like Vader86 suggested "you do not have To, OEM is fine". That has been my experience as well. I would just be sure to replace the two relays used on the MAF circuit to be sure that all functions like it is supposed to.

Upgrading the MAF might be more work than it is worth in the long run. I bought a new MAF after buying the C4 and pulled the original and stored it away. As long as the relays work the MAF should work for a long time, it has for me at least. I clean mine and make sure it stays clean by spraying it with the MAF sensor cleaning spray and letting it dry.

Before I would switch to a new Slot style MAF I would convert the engine to use a MAP sensor instead.

Your new engine will work just fine on the MAF like the factory used. Enjoy that new engine and stay healthy!

I would try changing the relays before i purchased a MAF.
you might find that they are really the problem.

The reason I need to change it is that's it's the original and the connector is cracked

Hello I have two MAF's for sale that I no longer need. One is used and worked great and the other is brand new and was my backup just in case.

I'd get this one: https://www.topflightautomotive.com/...low-sensor-gm/

or: https://www.originalgmparts.com/oem-...ensor-10055877

Note: some sources indicate that this sensor has been discontinued
