I have an 86 vert with the 4+3 and it has the cooling lines for the OD.
Since the OD is like an automatic transmission is seems likely to me that all 4+3's would have the cooling lines.
My 84 4+3 does as well. ATF use in vehicles pretty much signifies the need for cooling in that unit as well. My truck's manual ZF6 transmission runs ATF, and a cooler. It also runs ATF in the steering pump, with a cooler.
My lines are gone so iam thinking the od is dead or gutted. Was this a common thing people did? Is there a cheap trans replacement to go with a sraight 4 speed. Muncies are big $$
Your 4+3 is a borg warner super T10.
do nothing and you have a quality 4 speed capable of handling 450 ft lbs of torque.
but because it’s there, go to a auto parts store and buy 20 ft of steel line, and hook the overdrive up to the oil cooler in the radiator, and fill it with fluid.
roll the rear tires backwards and refill overdrive.
add a power wire (12v) to the terminal on the left side of the overdrive and go for a drive.
be careful when letting the clutch out in second gear for the first time. It may work. This is tje most misunderstood transmission in the automotive world.
if it does work, message me for more info

Here is the thing about changing things out. New transmission = min $2000, dont like the digital dash or converting to carb. = $1000 for autometer gauge set. Cant get tire size any more = $$$ well you get it and for a car thats not worth much (especially to the insurance company) that c4 is what it is. Like carbs buy a C3...like a better transmission or performance buy a c5 or better. A c4 is a c4. I drove them when they were new and they are cool. If I want better, I just get into my C7 and go for a drive.
i recall that being a challenge when i dropped my trans for a clutch job and good cleaning.
i *think* i used a stubby? maybe a crow? i do not recall building a custom tool (cutting an offset wrench with a grinder to make a special tool for example) so there must have been a way with off the shelf tools.
was there maybe a housing that can be pulled off? i cant recall. just know i didnt make a special tool.
