The radiator in my 89 A4 is leaking and needs to be replaced. I'm looking for recommendations for an all aluminum radiator that fits without modifications.
I'm very tired of things that almost fit. Rock Auto caries LILAND GLOBAL radiators that look interesting.
Can it be repaired? I haven't really examined the radiators in these Vettes to see if they're all metal or plastic tanks. If it is all metal an old school radiator shop should be able to repair it for less than a new one. In California there's an old school shop called Parthenia Radiator. They are great at repairing old radiators. Recored my 66 GTO radiator and it looks as good as a factory original.

Sadly the side tanks are plastic. I had the radiator for my 79 DeVille recored years ago, but just about everything from the mid 80's and newer is disposable.
There are plenty of less-expensive radiators out there as even Eastwood now carries their own brand of Radiators designed for high temp. running vehicles and they are sold for a fraction of the cost of a good replacement. The radiator world is different than when they could fix your radiator with a brazing torch and a stick of silver solder. The day they went to plastic tanks they screwed up.
I have a Be Cool Radiator in my C3 427 and it works but not as well. The Be Cool is an "Epoxied" unit that is simply Epoxy-glued together and no brazing is done or needed. I did not do enough research before buying the BeCool.
Best advice is "The Radiator may not be the "right" place to try and save some money" on an cheap or lesser quality radiator. I would be inclined so spend a bit more and buy one designed for my Corvette and that will last more than a few years. I have never ever paid anything even close for a radiator but at DeWitt's they can make you a "solution". I was fortunate to speak for a few minutes with the former owner "Tom" I soon became convinced that he "understood" what my issue was and had plenty of solutions. The testimonies on this Forum alone support their abilities.
About DeWitt's, they get a whole lot of praise and they have a lot of happy customers everywhere here on the Forum. I do think that the DeWitt's would look really nice while keeping my 427 comfortably cooler.
Only you get to choose what type or quality you install on your Car.
