Default INterior Space C4 compared to C3?

Does the C3 have more leg room and more overall room inside the car compared to a C3 corvette, Coupe-Coupe? I think the C3 has more room b/c of the exhaust pipes that run on the sides of the tranny underneath so the tranny tunnel is really wide at the botton giving the C4 (atleast my model year) a small area to place your feet and legs.

Also the C3 is about 2 inches longer in wheel base, Does this help in interior room. The reason I made this topic was that I'm planing on dtching my C4 and going to a 1972 C3 Corvette, I just want to know if I should, b/c its all built the way I want it and I just need to know if the C3 has more space inside or not. Thanks for any info :flag

I'll say the C3 has alot more room in it for the feet and legs. I'm rather tall and (when i was much heavier than i am now) i used to not like C4s because of the seat's shape (not great lower support, made me sit a little hunchbacked) and since i have size 18 shoes i had to put one foot over the other instead of planting them side by side.

Then my friend turned over his 86 vert to his dad so he could get a 74 vert, and i absolutely love that car. It made me want to get a vette, and since i'm alot slimmer now i can fit in my 86 coupe.

Comparing them, theres TONS of space in the footwell, though id say a little less for the shoulders and arms in the C3. The controls in the C4 are about the same distance away, so theres not much noticable difference there to me.

The first car i get when i graduate and get some money is not a C5, it'll be a C3.

Of course, i'm just going by my own feel of the car.

I have an 81 coupe and a 94 convertible, and I think the interior is more in my 81 only because of the fast back style rear glass. In the 72 you won't have that , so you will probably have more room in your 84. As far as more leg and feet room, I have more feet room in the 81 but more leg room in my 94. What you gain in one you lose in the other. Hope this helps. Enjoy the 72, You just can't beat those fat fenders! Save the Wave :seeya Zane

With a tubbed rear you'll have very little room behind the seats! Maybe enough room to hold a case of cold ones - if you don't use a cooler! They weren't designed for storage :nonod: Zane

Its like tubbed uder the Rear hatch area I think. He says the trunk is useless it is tubbed and their is a fuel cell back thier. Also he has a Roll Cage, I have three good pics of the car, but I cannot post pics, I dont know how could someone tell me how? Or I could e-mail it to someone and they could post them. He tells me that thier is enough room behind the seats to put some luggage or baggage or a backpack or a suitcase. (NOt all at 1 time, just one item at a time.) Do you guys think its worth it, he would sell it to me for 25g's. 470CIDengine 540hp+ 33x20inch sportsman tires. Could someone help me out with the pics? THanks for all your help. :yesnod: ;)

Was this car set up for the strip or street? With that kind of HP you'll need a fuel truck to follow you everywhere you go. And the cost of repairs could be outrageous. Definitly not a daily driver the way it sounds. Just my .02 worth Zane

For what it's worth, the later C3's have substantially more leg/head/storage room than C4's. My head bumps the top of my '92 on large bumps, and I pray I am never rear ended, or my head will probably hit the rear targa. Neither of these happen in my '81. In the back, I can fit my complete track bicycle, 2 sets of wheels, and all my other racing gear in it (yeah, I get plenty of Keystone Cops comments when uploading it at the track, too.... In the '92, I am lucky to fit 2 wheels in the back. The fact that the passenger seat folds flat on the C3 makes things much easier to load, too.

Oh well, this probably doesn't apply much to your tubbed early C3, but, with THAT kind of performance, why haul anything?!? ;)

S H I T guys , I need some help. THe website for the car is http://www.cars-on-line.com/72corv10400.html where you could see what I'm talking about. He is yet to give me some pics of the interior of the seats and behind them. I love my C4, but This Car is built the way I like it with big tires and has merlin heads and a BB and it looks cool. On the other hand I like my C4 as well it has every single guage in LCD and shows metric and standard US measurements.

BUt the 72 doesnot have a radio and the interior guages look kinda wierd and odd. Plus the car does not have to pass smog.

But if I keep my car, if I want to do these upgrades it will take a long time and cost is pretty good to. Help me out guys what do you think? :( :(

Man, for that $$$ I would buy a C5 around 98 or 99. They are the easiest to get into (IMHO) and the interior seems more durable. It may not be as fast as that C3 but for the technology, brakes, etc. A super charger can make up for the power loss!!!

I dont want a C5, I like the look of a C3 and I would like to build a lot of power, C5 Drivetrain cant take that much, I know someone will dispute this and constantly repeat that the C5 can take alot of power, I dont see any 1000hp+ C5's do you. NO I dont but I do see a lot of 1000+hp C3's :yesnod:

A C3 can not take 1,000hp, which is why every single piece of the drivetrain has been replaced. The C3 has very litle useable space as it is, that car has none with the tubs and cell. That is a cool car, but not very indicative of a C3 since the IRS is gone and the whole drivetrain replaced. Car sits a little funny too. I don't imagine the ride is that good with those huge meats, narrow track and short wheelbase. Its a race car with plates. If you really want a Stingray, I would pass on that car. That is a show/race car, not a cruiser or anything even remotely close to a daily driver. As far as the strength of the C5, there are lots of them running in the 11's and 10's with stock differentials. A stock C3 would shatter at those HP levels.

If you put a BB in a C4 will it still be street legall and smog legal? ALso I dont want to have a corvette with tires that big, at the most maybe 29inches tall and like 15inches wide, no bigger.

What if I put a BB in my 84 and still use the Crossfire lid to make it appear stock? Will this work? But I really like the look of a C3, I dont know could you guys give me some advice?

Should I keep my car and modify it. But thier is too many California Laws and DMV s h i t . Or do I buy that C3? Or do I just buy a stock BB corvette? PLease give me some advice

In CA, you won't get away with much. If you are going to go mod crazy, you need an older C3 that didn't come with cats. A BB conversion isn't too bad on a C3 but requires a lot of fabrication for a C4. If you want a fast realiabele smog legal car, I would sell the 84 and buy a 92 LT1 and modify it.

Actually the Fabrication thing isnt that much of a problem, all youu need to do is move the steering rack forward about 1/2 and inch and cut a hole so the Crankshaft dampener has room to spin. Also to just notch the Firewall. The BB in a C4 isnt that much of a problem for me, its just being legall, If it is legall to change the engine to a BB. I have no problem in making it with cats, smog pump or even the smog headers, just I need to know if it is even legall to put in a BB in a C4?
