1985 splines?
1985 stock c4.
Under wide open throttle, mid power band, something from behind my seat made a ridiculously loud Zip sound " like if you said ZZZZZZZZZ really loud". Sounded like splines slipping against each other. Anyone have any ideas? I was thinking spline into the rear are failing. Or perhaps it's the hub splines?

Noises are hard to say without experiencing noise. Pinion bearings can generate high pitched buzzing. Lose exhaust shields or baffles. Automatic transmission can make noises but it's beside you. You could check condition of fluid; if its burn't or discolored. You may want to check pan for debris.
