Search turned up nothing, so I thought I'd post. I am in the process of trying to replace TV cable as part of a larger rebuild. It was really crusty! The issue I'm running into is that I've ordered (2) cables now and they both have an opening at the trans which is way too small for the linkage to fit into (see picture).
Has anyone dealt with this? The only "fix" I see is reversing the linkage so the smaller end now enters the cable sheath. I'm not 100% comfortable with that fix. I"ve now ordered a 3rd cable from Corvette Central..we'll see.
Thanks everyone!
Edit: It is a 700R...original cable as far as I can tell.

It's apparent you didn't order the proper cable or you were shipped the wrong one. 82 - 84 700R4 cables are different.
Thanks Arbee - I am starting to understand the issue. You're right, the 84 is an odd ball. The first cable came from Amazon (same PN listed on RockAuto), the second from Rockauto. They were an ATP and Pioneer cable respectively. On a side note, it was obvious they were the same exact cable. The new one is coming from Corvette Central, and they do list it as an 82 & 84 cable, so I'm pretty confident it will be correct.
If your last order from Corvette Central is a #534249 it should be correct for an '84. Have you been buying used or what? Brand and part # of what you've bought!

Yeah, that's the one I have coming from CC. The other two were new. ATP "Y225", the other was Pioneer "CA1960". Those two were the exact same cable. Both had a "Made in Israel" sticker.

Well - now it depends on what Corvette Central is 'repackaging' - Good Luck. There does seem to be catalogs that mention what you've received as being correct!

How long is your original?
I'm assuming it will be correct because they do list it for 82-84 only. The original is about 37" long, same as the (2) incorrect ones...
WVZR-1 - You called it, lol. Just received the cable from CC. I knew I was screwed when the label on the box read "Y-225"....same as the other (2) cables. Too small of a hole in the sheath.
Any suggestions here? I'm going to feel really dumb when the 4th one arrives the same as the other three...
Edit: Just sent a message to Tracy Corvette (per ebay link above) to see if they can clarify they have the correct cable.

ZIP answers their phones. They often reply to forum requests also! They show stock and use the GM/OE as a reference. GM# 25515601 ZIP = M-4198 I believe.
With a 'Vernier' confirm the diameter of the tube @ the case entry call them and ask them to confirm the dimension of theirs over the phone.
Hey WV - Funny you posted this, as I did not get a notification, but I actually did call ZIP before I saw this. The guy was cool enough to open a cable and verify it was a Y-225, with the smaller hole. We both agreed people are probably just "making it work"...
