If a person close to you had a genuine confirmed OE starter motor with a correct label on it, your core would be worth a few $$$ so they could save the OE.

Yeah, well I'm sure not going to spend $180 for a new starter so I can buy it locally compared to $120 from Rock Auto. Plus I'd get a Remy, which they don't even sell locally anyways. A lot of brands and other items I've gotten over the years from Rock Auto wasn't available locally anyways or it was double the cost locally. Many years ago, I got a new radiator "locally", and it lasted less than a year, and I had no interest in replacing it for the same brand so I could dump $40 in coolant every year replacing it. So I got my money back and so happened to get a NOS GM radiator off of eBay for pretty cheap, and that's been running for over a decade now. At the time I was also able to get GM radiator hoses off of one of those GM websites for pretty cheap as aftermarket radiator hoses never last long.
