I just found this dangling around. All I can tell you is that it has a vacuum line that goes to the bottom of the vacuum ball Canister. It seems to have 2 other connections for vacuum lines. I'd really love to know what this is and where it goes as well as what is does. Thanks to all for your help with this one.

EGR Solenoid for a L98 attaches to the water outlet. Vacuum routing can change I believe dependent on year. What year is yours There should be more information on the solenoid.

If it were original I'd expect maybe a DR 138 - had it been replaced at any point probably DR 195.

It's the EGR solenoid. It attaches to a bolt on the thermostat housing base. On my '86, one vacuum line goes to EGR and the other to underneath the throttle body.
