Default Knock Sensor Clearance Issues with American Racing Headers

Hello All!

I am having an issue where the knock sensor for the driver's side of my 94 LT1 'vette will not clear with the new headers.

Headers in question are these: https://americanracingheaders.com/co...96-long-system

Knock sensor comes in contact with red line
Has anyone had this issue before? I would prefer to avoid modifying the headers, but does anyone know of a possible solution for this? The passenger side knock sensor goes in no problem since its at a different position on the block.

If the sensor is in place, do the headers go on?

So I have had the ARH headers on my 96 LT4 for several years and did not have this issue. But I have two knock sensors on my engine that look like they are in a different location than yours. On mine there are metal heat shields over each knock sensor connector, they came stock from the factory to protect the wiring/connector. I have enough clearance between the header tubes and the shields.
I did have trouble with the catalytic converter placement being too close to the floor. I could just about get a finger width between the floor and the cats.
I made a metal shield over each cat and also used Thermotec heat barrier and stuck it to the floor by the tunnel.

Drivers/left side KS should be in this location

There any reason why mine is not in this location? I'm really confused as where to go from here regarding this...

I'm not sure where it is bolted up to, but plug the hole with a 3/8" pipe plug and relocate the knock sensor to the bottom of the block. I have been running ARH stepped headers for years with no knock sensor clearance issues but I do not have a Lt1 block.

It would be interesting to know where the KS is mounted, the OP's snapshot was a bit vague. The test will be what he actually needs, the KS I believe is 1/4 NPT and I actually believe that some have purchased blocks that had 3/8 NPT female threads at the oil pan rail and they needed a bushing. The shields left side are same '92+ so I assumed the KS location the same.

This fellow had the 3/8NPT issue on an engine he had bought:

Thanks for the help, I'm not sure honestly if there is another location, this is a stock numbers matching LT1 block that came from the factory.

The passenger side/right side of the block has the location similar to what WVZR-1 said, but it isn't the same on the other side. I can check to see if there is another hole lower down on the side of the block but that wouldn't make much sense since there is also this hole. Sorry not the most experienced when it comes to this stuff, first time pulling rebuilding and remounting the engine so I'm a bit new to all of this. Thanks for all the help and suggestions, I will keep you guys posted!

I've had browser issues lately where it seems that recent posts to a thread don't appear sometimes for hours. This one the OP seems to have likely responded @ 12:17 EDT but here for me @ 2:56 it hasn't populated. An AD blocker issue?

****Posting this response seems to have 'forced' the 12:17 post.

OP check your block for a threaded port in the vicinity mentioned, did your right side have a shield that attached with 2 of the pan bolts? Those 2 pan bolts might have been studs.

I'm surprised that someone with a '94 hasn't posted.

There actually is such a thing as a KS relocator. Ron Francis and others offer it. A few years ago it was mentioned in a C4 post.

A Ron Francis link:

OP - Have you called ARH? I understand they're quite responsive. Seems you've a very valid reason for the inquiry.
