Another PKE problem
The PKE system worked flawlessly in my 96 vert until I took it out of storage 2 weeks ago. Assuming that disconnecting the battery would necessitate reprograming I did that. Programming mode entered no problem; the PKE light was flashing with the ignition off. I introduced the fob and...nothing. It just stays flashing. I did change the battery in the fob.
Any suggestions?

That a rough one. Disconnecting the car battery does not reset or clear the PKE receiver. More than likely it's the receiver, it usually is. However I would definitely try to get another FOB and try programming again. There is a self test for the PKE where you connect two pins on the ALDL connector and it puts the PKE into a self test mode. I have not done it in 10 years or more and it did work. But I never heard any good things about it actually finding a problem. I personally think it's not worth much. "Sounds" like the switches and contacts are doing OK in the steering column.
