I’m trying to figure out where the distributor housing should be positioned when installed at zero advance & when I put it to 6 or more degrees of advancement. I don’t want it running into the intake tubes, etc.
Here is the position of the distributor housing for TDC #1 after I have installed it this morning w/ timing mark at zero. Does it look right?
I marked the distributor housing with a black sharpie for the #1 when the cap was in place. Rotor pointed at it below;
Timing at Zero & was planning on going to 6 degrees advanced to start with.

Yes and no...need to be 100% sure you're on the #1 TDC and not 180 out. I normally use the tower next to the wire connector as number 1 but in your case it'll work. Upon engine start up, you'll still need to rotate the distributor to obtain the 6 degrees initial advance so what I like to do is set the balancer at 6 degrees and align the distributor/cap/rotor as you have. If everything is aligned correctly, you won't even need a timing light to set the 6 degrees but you should still recheck it.
...suppose should have mentioned correct firing order and plug wires going to respective cylinder.
