Hi, new here and to corvettes in general. I recently bought a 92 auto LT1. The person who had it (a friend's father in law) couldn't start the car. They could get it to turn over and stay running on starting fluid, but not by itself. So they replaced the fuel pump and same issue. Fast forward to me bringing the car home. I can't get the car to turn over at all. The odd thing is, I have no security light. I have the right side dash lights like "check gauges" and "brake", but nothing on the right. No security light, no center display and if I turn the parking lights on, nothing lights up in the entire cluster, but the headlight switch and radio and everything else will illuminate.
Through all of my research, I only found 1 person with a similar issue and they said replacing the CCM was the answer. I also can't find much information online about purchasing another CCM. Any help here would be greatly appreciated.
ok, here's a bit of an update from last night. I can bypass the starter using a push button switch and get it to turn over. I can spray a little starting fluid and get it to run for a sec, but that was obviously just a quick test. I've also tried both keys and double checked the resistance. I've gone through and checked the grounds and body strap. Battery is brand new and is 12.6V at the starter. Battery cable bolts are also brand new. I also went through every fuse in the car and all are good. I do have passenger window, interior lights, radio and antenna working.
Thinks I don't have
no door buzzer
no drivers side window
no security light
no dash lights
no center display or light
ac controls are intermittent
no fuel pump prime
headlights will overrun
I would check out all 3 fuse blocks. The one in the car and the 2 under the hood by the battery. Look at those maxi fuses for a blown one or corroded terminal. Wiggle some wireing around the fuse blocks.
I would say grounds but there is several of them and can't direct you to any one.
I have the same issue and symptoms on an intermittent basis that is heat related and have traced it to a deffectve CCM. I plan on removing it tomorrow.
I have traced mine back to the same thing. I got the bracket off from behind the dash but can't pull the CCM out to save my life. Although, my patience is limited in this Tennessee heat haha
Hello, I have here in Finland my friend 1992 with exactly same problem. Have you found anything yet?
When I open dash from under of steering wheel, found mouse's nest... :O
Now I'm wondering that is there eaten wires under of dash (didn't found any yet). Or is it just CCM or...?
Nice, yesterday I did take CCM out (ARGhhhh what fu...ng job). Wasn't broken/eaten wires so... maybe CCM. And car is 1992 and on CCM read GM 1995 :O
So it's not original....
Your out in left field with the CCM. Start with the battery, connectors and cables.
So after checking everything, I ordered a used CCM from eBay, installed it today and after sitting for 10 years, my dash and everything else came to life and she fired right up! Still don't center display, but it does light up now so the screen might be broken. All in all, I drove it around the neighborhood and it runs pretty good
