Was pulling out the transmission on my 1996 C4 LT4/6sp.
Had the usual problems. But Nothing that didn't get resolved. It's out.
But on cleaning up and bagging nuts and bolts. I found this Hext head screw on the floor.. I am not real familiar with thus year. If anyone know what and where this goes. Let me know.
It locks the clutch fork pivot ball into the bellhousing. It is covered by the transmission after the trans is installed. Those do get loose over time. Yours must have been really loose and fell out when you pulled the trans back.
Yes that's it and if you've the '96 FSM there should be an image showing it's placement. In the '96 FSM I'd expect it to be the vicinity of 7-246 but the image won't appear even similar to what you've pictured. If you don't have the FSM I can help you with a .pdf. The '96 FSM is a 2800+ page compilation that differs somewhat from the '95 and earlier years. I've extracted some sections of the '96 FSM and do them separately from time to time for folks.
That kind of looks like the bolt that holds on the window slide that goes thru the glass in one of the doors. Or another hold down that secures the window to the frame.
