Default TPI performance

Hello everyone, I’m new to this page and I’m looking to get some tips on performance on my 86 vette L98. I’ve had the car for 2 years now and I’ve done headers exhaust and just got a mild cam done, now I looking to get the most out of the TPI. Different runners? Porting? Injectors? Any help would greatly be appreciated.🤗

Do some searches here on the topic. There is tons of info out there. However, in general "TPI performance" is an oxymoron.

It was just summit racing’s “classic cam” and as far as goals I would like to get 300 crank hp but 275 might be more realistic

get some SLP runners, and Edelbrock TPI manifold base. Port the inside of your plenum. After that, it's cylinder heads. since you already did the exhaust. if it's an automatic, get a shift kit. Trans-Go.

Aftermarket base, TPIS, Edelbrock etc.
SLP Runners or the Arizona Speed Marine runners.
Port and polish job
Exhaust obviously
cam
heads maybe if it is an 85-87 TPI

Be forewarned all things considered, making power with a TPI isn't the best value proposition out there HP per dollar, and fundamentally it will never be a good race motor so long as it is a "TPI" because of the narrow band power production.

That being said go for it so long as you understand what you're getting in to. Bottom line is that dollar for dollar LT1 cars are going to be faster and generally are not any more or any less expensive than L98 cars.

Boost or nitrous. Unless you can make your own turbocharger system, you're stuck with a centrifugal supercharger as your only "bolt on" option for boost.
If you're serious about making power without boost or nitrous, I'd suggest a different intake like the Miniram, Super Ram, or a HSR. The limited RPM range of the TPI intake will make less power.

Not enough info.

Quick search shows that could be anywhere from 278 to 300+ advertised duration. Specs of the cam should be generally matched to style of intake. If you got a "big cam", you might "need" a short-runner intake.
