I STORED MY 88 FOR ABOUT 6 MOS. AND WHEN I TOOK IT OUT OF STORAGE LAST WEEK THE HEAT WOUKD NOT WORK. IT HAS C68 AUTO CLIMATE CONTROL AND EVERYTHING ELSE SEEMS WORKS....THE HEATER HOSES GET HOT BUT THERE IS NO HEAT IN THE CAR EVEN WITH THE TEMP SET TO 80 DEG'S. OR HIGHER....JUST AMBIENT AIR HELP IF YOU CAN :confused:
Just a quick hint, before anyone else says it.....don't use all Caps....not :cool: .....you will learn as you use the forum.....sorry can't help you with the very simple problem you posted....but hang in there...someone will shortly....
Remember how to post....
Good Luck.......

Check the unit for Trouble codes, Hold the up and down fan,will display a '00' on the panel. press auto fan will display codes.
00 = no fault
01, 02 = temp door motor circuit failure
03 = ambient sensor open
04 = ambient sensor short
05 = in vehicle temp sensor open
06 = in vehicle temp sensor short
07 = solar load sensor open
08 = solar load sensor short
09 = low freon
10 = UART failure
Does the air that is blowing out change from vent to vent when u change the settings? If not check for maybe a vacuum leak in the system....
Dude your in FLA. you dont need heat.
When a car is stored it is common for a thermostat to stick.
What did your temp guage say?Hot?Squeese the upper radiator hose (dont burn yourself),If its hard meaning lots of pressure.The thermostat is stuck.
If your guage is saying cold then you might not have any fluid in it.Or a air lock.
Did you drive it?Some times you got to build up some vacume to open the heater door.
:chevy
Have someone watch the heater control valve at the heater hoses in engine comp near the firewall while you switch the temp from hot to cold and see if the valve is operating . Let us know good luck :cheers:
Core is probably plugged; what does the coolant look like? If it looks like crap and it's been in there for less than a year, a leaking head gasket maybe allowing exhaust to get into the coolant. Also check the air door by removing the blower module from the evaporator housing and have someone operate the temp range from 60 to 90. Door inside the housing should move. To flush the core, remove heater hoses and use compressed air or a garden hose. Heck, do a good system flush while you're at it being sure to drain the block along with the radiator after the flush. Otherwise, you'll never get the mixture right.
i dont think you can check the early c4s climate controls for codes. also, if your coolant seems to be at normal operating temps and your heater core isnt leaking all over your pass floormat, then your problem is probably the motor that controls whether the blower motor blows through the heater core or not. I had this problem myself.
This is what I'd do, its kind of messy, but it should work.
Remove both hoses going into the heater core, on the right side of the engine near the exhaust manifold.
Take a water hose, and run it through the core, one tube, then the other. When everything looks clear, reinstall the hoses, and test it.
Hopefully that works. The last one I did, a 1990 Chevy pick-up, pine-needles came out of the heater core...along with rust...and all sorts of other gunk. But the heater worked after that.

:eek: :eek: how did you get pine needles in your coolant??

I dunno! It wasn't my truck, it was a friends truck. It was the first coolant flush since he had it, so it was something previous owner did! :eek:
We found all sorts of funny things about that truck. The engine wasn't the original 454, it was actually slower than the original, but it was a 468. The whole sound system was missing, including wires, and the exhuast had these crazy square things professionally welded on.
if your heater core is leaking on your pass floor mat, it should be coolant, not water leaking out into your car (unless you run straight water as coolant). If this is the case then you need to replace your heater core. until you decide to do this, if you want, you can pull the two heater hoses off at the firewall and connect them together to bypass the heater and stop the leak until you have the time and energy to replace the core.

Where is the above mentioned motor located. I am having the same heater problem in my 93
on my 89 it is mounted to the outside of the case that covers the heater core The case is under the passenger side of the dash tucked behind the firewall right where the heater hoses come out on the other side.
THANKS FOR THE COMEBACK...BUT IT HAS C68 AUTO CLIMATE CONTROL....NO HEATER CONTROL VALVE UNDERHOOD... HOT WATER GOES TO CORE ALL THE TIME.
I was all ready to say your car does have a valve, but I see 84-87 have the control valve, C68 or not, and the 88-89 do not. I wonder why GM changed this???
