383 LT4 opti-delete build thread
I'm finally going to post my build. Started with a stock '96 collectors edition 6speed. Sent the short block to a local builder who stripped and tanked the block, line-honed etc the works. Installed 383 crank and hotcam (actually a lunati cam with similar specs). Had the heads done at a shop with 3 angle valve job, springs, and all that. Got a new clutch from Carolina clutch.
Meanwhile I wired up the Holley Terminator X using the EFI Connection crank and cam signal kit, and got some LS1 coils. I'm 90% done. It's all buttoned up and runs great but need to figure out a solution to run the A/C. Also have plans to convert to electric power steering, but that will have to wait till the fall (Vegas is hot). Pics below, you'll see my original LS1 coil brackets were fine until i realized they rubbed the hood. Last photo shows my new plan although it's just a temporary solution.
I'll add more photos tomorrow. It's dinner time

New 24x reluctor
Cam signal adapter installed in place of opti. There's a piece attached to the cam that the sensor reads
Electric water pump
threaded rod and aluminum pipe
right angle brackets bolted to the intake manafold

original coil pack location rubs the hood when fully closed
it's not easy getting another main wiring harness into the cabin
new locations for the coil packs
only held in place with wire until I can fab some brackets

The Holley handheld unit can act as a mini dashboard for coolant/air temps, map rdg, AFR etc. RPM also, but the corvette tach works plug-n-play with the terminator output signal.

Looks nice. Out of curiosity, is the MAF there in the intake now just as an IAT/MAT sensor?
I'm jealous of your tach, mine is just a 6k, (although it seems to have no issue to go to 7)... The speedo will also work fine from the Holley, if you don't yet have it connected.

How does the speedo get signal from the Holley? I thought the VSS connected to the PCM and then signal out to speedo

Then set the PPM to be correct for your year. Mine was 4k ppm, but I don't know if they were different in the later years.

Well I've been tinkering with my timing table trying to get rid of a low rpm stumble and stinky idle. I think I found the problem. This is the 2nd time I've had to figure out why an engine runs great at WOT but shitty at part throttle and idle. So far, both times were spark plug wire issues.

Nice work, yeah the coil locations and making proper plug wires was a little bit labor intensive for me, used MSD 8.8mm wire in kit form, and installed a heat sleeve over it.

Did you install the engine with your headers installed? How? Looks great though my friend!!
