Just looking for any suggestions as I know sight unseen, a diagnosis is nearly impossible. I'm 90 miles from home and from my mechanic so it's worth a shot.
As I'm driving, accelerating to about 40-45mph, the engine stops. Pull over and try to start and the engine won't turn over. This car has never given me any problems. No warning signs of a bad alternator, fuel pump, ignition, etc.
About 3 months ago had long tube headers installed. The only glitch since then is my speedo acting goofy when coming to a stop. Would say 0 then 7 then 4, etc. Then it froze on my previous trip before stalling. Hit one of the display buttons and it went back to normal. Don't know if this is coincidence or related to something electrical under the hood.
Had to get it towed to a nearby shop and they can't figure it out. They said it started for them and they can't do a diagnostic unless something fails. I gotta get this car and myself home at some point. Any suggestions appreciated.
Id be looking at any portion wiring in close proximity to the headers, especially near the starter. Maybe there is some sort of heat related condition causing a short circuit. Then after a good cool down it operates normally.

I normally won't reply to a resolved post but since it's been resurrected...^^^is this even possible? Sounds like pack clean underwear or a lawsuit waiting to happen if I'm buzzing along at 75 mph and my engine cuts out due to VATS.
This has happened to me several times also. Only once when the car was moving. Yes, a check your draws moment. It has occurred several times when shifting the car either from park to drive, drive to reverse, etc. The car just shuts off and loses all power. Turning the key into the acc position a few times and leaving it in that postion then the dashboard will light up and the car will start. No cooling down period.
