85 corvette shifting

Hi recently bought a 85 corvette drives good if you are flooring it a little bit but if you are cruising from a stop it will shift into 3rd to early and drop the rpms below 1000 causing it to kind lug around until it picks back up or you tap the gas to make it downshift

It is most likely the lock up torque convertor is locking ip too early. When you tap the brake you unlock the convertor. You probably need a modified chip to delay lockup.

when you tap the brake it stays the same. Have to tap the gas to get it to downshift then it is normal
