Actually, it's pretty simple. It's been awhile since I took mine out, but as I recall, all it takes is a screwdriver. The vinyl shade is rolled on a tension bar that you have to pry out from one end....the passenger side as I recall. There is a raised tongue on that end that fits into a groove in the car body. Put the screwdriver in there, give it a pry, and you can slide it out.

Carl, it can be done from either side, like described above it's like a giant toilet paper holder, you push it to th eopposite side you are working on and then insert a large screwdriver and push the end in and there you are.
