Does anyone know what the pin seats are called and where to get them. I tried removing the chip from the prom but it did not go well. I ended up pulling the pins out with the chip. There are several extra not being used, but I'd like to purchase a few more. Now that they're out of the prom housing I need to clip them off. Here's a pic of the pin seats. I have searched online for them but can't find them. To remove the spares from the prom they get bent. I may end up going to the wrecking yard and finding one and pilfer a few, but would just rather purchase a set if they're available.
Ohhh. No. Sorry to see that.
A must have patience and a really good solder iron with pin tips.
They are a type of IC socket pins for dual ICs like atmel EEproms.
One of the best methods after safely removing the GM eprom. Is soldering a ZIF socket.
Aka 0 force. drop the EEprom in slide a lever to lock.
Can also use a dip socket. Requires force or solder.
Pic 1 sample.
I believe moates makes a GM G1 adapter sample pic 2
If moates was around when i first converted proms
I would have purchased the ostrich 2.0 memic all.
Digi key is a great EEprom and all related source.
Thank you for the replies. I am very new to this and am trying to find info. I think I have one of those pieces. Here's what I got from Moates. I also have the alda cable with the switch box so I can do older odbis as well. Once I figure out mine I'm going to tune my friends 89.
