Default Tranny woes continue...

As most of you know, my 700R4 gave out and I had it rebuilt. I did the R&R myself and had a tranny shop do the rebuild.

Well I got it all buttoned up (for the second time) and for the most part it is running good. The only problem I'm having is that it won't shift from 2nd to 3rd unless I let off the gas. 1st to 2nd is fine. I adjusted the TV cable but I'm thinking I may need to play with that a little more, it acts like it is too tight.

Is there anything else I am missing or I should shift my focus to? Or is this most likely the TV cable adjustment?

Other than that, what a difference! Putting the shift kit in and the higher stall converter in makes this thing a completely different animal

BTW, thanks to everyone who helped me along the way of R&R'ing it twice

What kind of shift kit was it? ...and did you modify anything in the valve body?

Well as for the shift kit, when I had the conversation with my mechanic we were going to put the B&M. But when the tranny rebuilder found out it was a Vet he said "he had a better setup". So I'm not sure what he actually put in there (I know it's not the B&M or TransGo), I left it to his discretion, I won't find out til later this week.

I don't know if he did anything to the valve body or not, is there a way I can tell? The only thing I know for sure is that he did a complete overhaul because my 3/4 clutch pack was shot and he installed the shift kit. I installed the higher stall TC.

I had a little trouble adjusting my tv cable also, the mistake I made was making WOTajustment at the TB instead of the gas pedal. Once I did it correctly it dialed right in. good luck.

Ok, I've been messing with the TV cable for the last couple of days and it still isn't cooperating. It also doesn't seem like it is shifting to OD on the freeway. At 70mph I'm at 2400  But it's confusing because when I'm going 78mph it is still at 2400  It used to be 78mph = 2200

I'm gonna drop it off at the shop and let him deal with it tomorrow afternoon, but does anyone have anything I can check before I do?

TIA

Sounds like the converter is not locking up.

you should be able to feel the converter lock up in the lower gears also. could be something pressure related.
