Maybe due to all the moisture here lately, it appears that placing the hardtop on my convertible sometimes has the switch locks actuate for no findable cause - I've spent time on it and even had my friend's garage attempt to help - but to no avail. Has anyone ever had the deck lid switches short out and continuously activate on their own? Mine happens, not all the time, and NOT with the engine running.
Any help to demystify would help. Right now, I have given up and pulled the fuse.
I think Phil means only duing the actual install. Mine goes off repeatedly once in awhile when I activate it......weird. Only once in a great while though. Sounds like a machine gun too
Mine does all different version :)
I thought it was a problem due to the parking brake being applied, or with moisture, but nothing really has been identified yet.
They did - I missed it then .... makes sense I need to re-read!
hmmmmmmmmm I stand corrected...just checked the owners manual (1995)
It references removing the hardtop, step #11......"Install the HATCH (45) fuse to enable the storage compartment lid release button and center console release switch. You will need the fuse installed if you have to raise your convertable top.
The fuse that enables these releases is not installed at the assembly plant and should be in your center console"
they never say anything about ever having to remove the fuse... only to do the initial fuse install because the factory is too lazy
anyway, I never removed my fuse and have never experienced problems. :smash: on wood
