If it is leaking, replace it. It is probably not the threads. When mine let go it pumped out 3 quarts of oil in about 3 miles.
This is a very good point! Thoroughly examine the OP sender. It is possible. I could not believe oil leaking above the sealed unit. Only 2 in my lifetime.
Its a slooooow drip i always notice on my oil filter i thought it might be the oil cooler gasket but since its in the same general area im not sure. Need to replace the pressure switch my engine oil temps sre always reading LO., I'll just reseal the threads on the pressure sender for now since my pressure was reading ok. Is the pressure switch what reads your oil temp?
No. Upper is oil pressure only.
The oil temp sensor looks similar to a coolant temp.
The oil temp. May have sealed or spade connector.
Especially if it was previously replace.

I think the oil temp sender is just above the oil filter on an 85. I'd replace the pressure sender anyway. Mine did the drip thing before it decided to open up and empty the crankcase.
The oil switch is connected to the fuel pump, at 4 to 5 psi (cranking oil pressure) the oil pressure switch closes and supplies the fuel pump with an alternate source of power. It and many others have failed and leaked oil everywhere. The oil temperature sender is a 1 wire bell shaped device. In my image the oil switch is pointing upward at 45°, the bell shaped oil sender is lying flat.
The OP's image has an arrow that sort of points to both of them, is an 85 different ??

Is the connector supposed to be loose on the switch? When you push it on it doesnt get tight at all is that normal? There was a plastic thing around the connector thats disintegrated could i ziptie the connector to the pipe?
I meant to say i got a new switch
It felt funny ( not ha ha funny ) when I put mine on also. This device is open or closed, so the contacts do not care which way they go. The shield/lock around mine was funcky as well. Look at the switch and you can see where the pins are supposed to slide into and try to get them in. It will not leave you with a postive feeling, no click or anything like that it just sort of feels mushy. Clean the connector, and put it on. The extra plastic lock that surrounds just has to be snapped back together, But I would not put the old switch back on, if you have another vehicle wait for the new part. I am not sure that the plastic shield did all that much on mine. Secure it how you can but plastic zip tie is still plastic.
Connector should not wobble.

The didital dash on my 87 gets it's info from the single wire, bell shaped oil sender below the oil switch mounted on the same pipe. The ECM does not receive oil pressure, the drivers information / warning display does.
