VSS - cluster jumping - no ABS - no CC - code 24
The speedo readings jump and when cold, the speedo doesn´t show any reading at all. When warmed up, the reading jumps, but most of the time is waaayyy to low, compared to the readings on the GPS speedo on my mobile phone. Consequently, mileage and range are off as well (although the fuel gage is off, too, mostly showing FULL). The cluster didn´t work at all when I got the car. I swapped it and now most of the readings are ok, except for speed and fuel.
At first I thought I might have plugged in the cluster connectors wrongly, maybe bending a pin, but now rather lean towards a bad VSS, as I get a code 24. Could it be simply a bad VSS connector or broken wire?
Where to source a new VSS? The regular parts guys don´t seem to have them. Is 25007224 is the correct P/N? Is there a replacement/other solution with a different type of VSS?
Provided the VSS was at fault, could this also be the reason for the ABS pump not doing it´s test cycle upon take-off? Could a faulty VSS also keep the CC from coming on?
I don't know what, if any, procedure there is to test a VSS-- might ask someone to peek in their FSM for you. My '93 has an entirely different VSS than you, otherwise I'd take a peek.
