I'm converting the L-98 in my 71 to serpentine and will be replacing all the v groove pulleys with serp pulleys. Is there a significant advantage to underdrive pulleys such as those sold by March? Most of my driving is in town in the 2000 to 4000 rpm range.
I bought the crank/alt pulley set from TPIS for my '85 L-98. They are March pulleys, and I've had no trouble with them. I can only compare them to stock, and they improved low end throttle response in comparison. With all the beef you've got going, I'm not sure if they will help any or just serve the normal application. :seeya
I use the 3 pc. pulley system from March.....only problem was voltage drop charging from the alt., had to get a different pulley from March.....
Now the system works great with no drop in voltage when using accessories or ideling. Also getting the right lenth belt was a small hassle....worth it though...
Happy with the system, and even looks great.....

You will always get that voltage drop. But it shouldn't cause any problems the only thing that will happen is the headlights will dim a little. If you dont have a high output sound system there should be no prblem.
Unless you have a very high output alt, get the March Power & Amp pulley series. It has an underdrive crank pulley and an overdrive alt pulley to maintain stock alt speeds.
I had a two piece pully set on my '91 B4C Camaro. Affected my voltage bigtime, as well as my low speed power steering. I ended up just running the crank pulley. Didn't notice any drop in power. Still ran a high 13.
