This is the drivers side rear of my 88 for reference if this helps at all....I took the pictures as its easy enough to see through the wheel... Someone mentioned the sweep of the pad on the rotor..i agree, i always thought it didnt look right....
OK, I got the wheel on, The rotor, caliper were on correctly so I figured give it one more try, except I put wheel on 2x4 to slide wheel under rotor best I could then sat on my *** leaning against the wall and used my legs to raise and rotate wheel to finally get studs lined up and ...presto! held wheel tin position and quickly threaded on couple of lug nuts. Cannot figure out why I had so much trouble with this one wheel vs the others. Thanks everyone offering ideas and tips to this never give up senior citizen
The rotor isn't on straight. Look at the mark on the hub next to the rotor. It's covered up on the right side of the picture and, as mentioned before, differing amount of threads showing on different lugs.
that was before and it was straight when I did the leg thing. thanks. Also discovered a stripped stud so havining that taken care of tomorrow. Never know what you will find on a 31 yo car
Got to say I'm 15 years younger than you and I have issues lifting wheel the tire and lining it up with the studs at the same time so I give you a big .
Hey thanks, It gets frustrating at times cause I just dont have the upper body strength anymore, so have to figure out ways to do it. One of the toughest jobs was putting on new shocks on my 2000 C5 but I used the twist tie method to compress the shocks which helped a lot. I always consider that everything I do on these cars is going to be tough so try to take it in stride. I watch these videos where everything goes like a charm but wonder how much was not shown when a simple part replacement runs into a snag. Its like " ok I'm back" lets move on...lol... I want to see the ugly with the good but then it would be too long of video to watch. The good thing is my "cussing kitty" jar is getting filled up
