Brakes are acting like a bad vacuum booster. What are the things I need to look for. Been around cars a long time but this is my first vette and don't want to just toss money at it. Any info is appreciated
Start with checking for a bad brake booster. One way is to see how long it holds the vacuum after shutting it off. A leaking booster would loose vacuum. How long it takes to loose would vary based on how big the leak is.
Start the engine for a few seconds then shut it off. Pull the check valve out of the booster and you should hear air rushing back in. If you don’t hear it then the booster is bad, or the check valve or grommet is leaking. A good good system with no leaks should hold the vacuum. Exactly how long is indicative of a good booster I don’t know.
For the record, I’ve pulled check valves on cars that I know haven’t run for days and still had air rushing in.
I'll check tomorrow on the vacuum stuff. As for the idle changing it does not changed. I second guessed the booster after reading some ones post that matched my issue but after he changed the booster it did not change the priblem
