Have you decoded the spid (service parts identification) label. It's located in between the bins behind the seat's. It will have a lot of alpha numeric codes on it. Here is one of my base coupe and here's a link (under pic) to decode them.
In 1985, KC4 Engine Oil Cooler was included with V08 Heavy Duty Cooling. Z51 included V08. (I believe that B4P Radiator Boost Fan was also included in V08, but I am not sure about this.)
There were 17,539 V08 of which 14,802 were included with Z51, so there were 2,737 KC4 on non-Z51 1985's. There were 39,729 1985s, so 22,190 1985s did not have KC4. KC4 was not a popular stand-alone option in 1985. Joe is correct with his assessment that if an 85 has a KC4, it probably is a Z51 because there were only 2,737 stand-alone V08s.
My 85 has the factory Heavy Duty Cooling System with Boost Fan and the Oil Cooler. It does not have the Z51 Suspension system. So, I understand there were only 2737 built like this?
