Mines a white, red interior, 1989! i see you have a white one.. what year is it?
Good Luck with the initial startup. Does the intake manifold you chose bolt-up to a small block, with aluminum heads, without any issues??
that's a good deal!!! I see the manifold on Jeg's. i guess then you got fuel rails, and a throttle body. Sweet Deal!!!

Thanks, mines a 90 6 speed with tan interior. Yup, got the intake and fuel rails, then picked up a stock LS1 TB from ebay and a TB adapter plate. I bought LS1 sensors and wiring adapters to make everything plug and play with the stock harness. I did have to buy Lokar cables for throttle and cruise since they run on the other side of the intake from stock. A few fellas made adapters to use the stock throttle body which would negate that issue.
I just built a 377 with a Super Ram AFR Heads etc. If I were to restart the whole project I would of reversed engineered it. In other words I would of started out with what ECM I was going to use and who was going to tune it. My combination could of worked with the stock ECM however the person doing tuning ( GM Tuners.com) told me flat out I had to much Cam Duration and he could make it run but it probably wouldn't idle. It didn't. So I needed somebody local to tune it and I found out there was nobody. The stock ECM's are like getting somebody to repair your Compac PC. So I ended up going with a stand alone Holley Terminator X. Oddly enough my original plan was to go with an LS engine but I didn't want to go with a stand alone ECM and ended up using it anyway. Looking back it would of been cheaper to of done an LS. But I would not trade an LS for my SBC.
So I would decide who is going to do Your tuning first. And then ask them what engine combination that they have all ready tuned and proven to work well. And build the engine to match.
How do i data log, once i get a PCM tune, or something similar?? Only reason im asking, my Eclipse had OBD2, which a laptop hooked up to via USB, and from there it was cake! But, does my '89 have OBD1??? Some means of reading/writing to a flash rom.. i could then see, logging, upload to tuner, (or tune it yourself), apply changes, and your off.. but i see why having a burner would be practical. I ended up cranking mine over, with A LOT of water in the fuel. Don't ask me how it got there... the drain in the back by the inlet wasn't clogged... and the fuel pumped out is rancid. Looks like lemonade!! But, I now have some more motivation. Tomorrow (Monday 30th) is supposed to be close to 60F, and im going to try starting it after fully flushing the tank, a wipe down, and then blow out fuel out & return lines... we'll see.. Not supposed to rain.. cloudy...
That sounds like as wicked setup. Thats some of the reasoning of my questions. How would a 400 blocks, with 327 crankshaft pan out.. like a 355ci @ stock bore. idk if specialized rods would be in order. But higher revs and a lot of low to 5300rpm power could be generated. TorchLT4 i believe has a good system planned out. I am familiar with programming/burning ROMs for older computers. And there means of adapting custom proramming to a factory ECU with an eprom, or piggy back, or actually needing the ECU to have some work done, is all within reason. Welps, I've read a lot today, and it's going to feel like spring tomorrow.. btw, how much duration are we talking about??

there's another option, Dynamic EFI. Your stock ecm is modded with flash memory. You can data log easily and tune yourself without swapping chips.

I'd definitely stick with the stock 400 crank and take the extra cubic inches of the 407ci.
