I know this is probably a stupid question, but how are you supposed to get the headlight relays on an 86 out without destroying them or the plate they're screwed into?

Passenger side headlight door doesn't come up. How do I test the relays? If that is the problem, any idea how much the new assembly costs?

First check to see if the 2 screws on each side of the headlight cover haven't backed out. Next, unplug the headlight motor and jump 12 v to the green wire (positive) and the grey wire (negative), the headlight door should open. These colors are from my 87 manual, so if your wire colors are different, you have three wires to apply 12 v to, two at a time. You cannot hurt the motor with a wrong connection. You can also put a voltmeter on the unplugged wiring harness connector going to the headlight motor. When the headlight switch is on, then 12v must be across the green and grey wires. A small 12v lamp can also be put across these two wires and it should light with the headlight switch turned on.

Thanks for the info. I'll give it a shot tomorrow and keep my fingers crossed that it's the relay and not the motor
