Hey Guys! I have a 92 vette with the 5.7 LT1 I’ve been owning for a few years now (2-3) . I purchased the car in Houston Texas and drove the car back home to Louisiana TWICE car ran PERFECT no check engine lights , oil maintenance sticker was up to date mostly I was ver satisfied the car had PLENTY power and was super fun to drive I’ve reached speeds of 150 mph completely stock , well fast forward a year or two now the car will start up fine if it’s the first time I start it that day , car revs good most of the time but it’s sounds like I had bad gas (slight missing? I would describe it but if I reved it hard it would kinda clear up well now the car is shaking and kind of missing and gurgling as if there would be water in the gas when I try to accelerate hard ..still idles good , I can drive it normally for a little while then it gets worse and the car will die when I slow down or come to a stop .. I’ve changed the fuel pump , water pump , alternator , new battery and just recently changed the fuel filter , it seems as if it got worse when I changed the fuel filter which is crazy right ?? The fuel filter is in the right direction and everything . When the car dies it won’t start back up right away I have to leave it alone for a while before it starts again .. any thoughts ?? Did going so fast maybe mess something up ? Like I said the first start up of the day is no problem It’ll start first crank most times I guess that’s from it sitting all night but after driving for a bit it runs rough , now runs rough all the time while in drive , idles fine , revs fine , tach not jumping , check engine light comes on every now and then and goes back off , tried to burn the tires the other night and car bogged down really bad ..when I try to accelerate on the highway you can feel the car wants to go and every now and then if I just let it bogg down and keep pressing the gas you can kinda feel it pick up everybow and then like it’s not getting enough gas !! Sorry if I’m all over the place I’m just trying not to leave anything out ! I’ve been a big fan of the forum and you guys and YouTube are the only reason I was able to get this far with it !!! Car has 160k miles !! They have a aftermarket radio installed wich got wet and is non functioning anymore but they have wires ran into my fuse box ig for the radio ! Should I check the fuses to make sure they all have the right fuse there supposed to ? Should I take those wires out ?
Start simple, check spark plugs and wires and verify each cylinder is getting a spark when the issue occurs. If it's getting spark when the issue is happening check your fuel pressure and fuel injectors. They can begin to fail when they are hot and run normally when cold.
Hey. I just happen to run across your post. I know its been a while but did you ever find the issue with your 92?. I have a 93 I bought new. It has 17,000 actual miles on it and yours is the only post I've seen that basically describes the issue I'm having with mine. I replaced the MAP and ICM. Thats about all I'm capable of. The local chevy dealer/shop is scheduling me for plugs, wires and opti-spark. They've already given me the estimate. Will probably have fuel filter replaced also. I just wondered how your situation turned out and if you had any positive results. Thanks.
