hot start problem
i need some advice. i bought a 1988 corvette. it jerked a lot at low revs. i replaced the inside of the manifold, spark plug wires, spark plugs, air filter, fuel filter, oil filter and all the fillings. the jerking has improved a lot, but the car still felt sluggish. then it stopped starting completely. I bypassed the VATS and since then it starts, although the engine spins a little longer, but it started. In 2022, I borrowed a tunnig chip from a friend, with which it was heard that the cylinders were arguing. in the service they measured that the distributor is set to 30 degrees. we managed to turn it to a value of 12 degrees and it was not possible more because of the top cover of the engine. the handling has improved in my opinion. but I wanted to get it right, so the manifold was removed, reshaped and set to 6-8 degrees. since then the car starts very poorly when the engine is warm. I measured the engine pressures and all cylinders have a pressure of at least 9.5. i checked the tps setting which is 0.53. next I replaced and adjusted the IAC and the engine temperature sensor. the car still does not start after a warm start, it takes half an hour and when the engine starts, it runs very erratically. almost as if he always started on choke and controlled it poorly. Could someone give me some advice on what to look for, because I'm already really unhappy about it. Thanks a lot
I've no comments regarding the rest of your post but battery condition, good wires/cables and maybe just a DIY contacts, plunger etc for the starter makes you well. For 'CRANK' anyway.
*** For '88 I'd remove the starter and inspect the contacts and plunger before buying a thing. An early 'denso might have a different length plunger. I'd shop 'local' at a responsible alternator/starter repair shop. If original DO NOT USE AS CORE - repair yours or get a responsible vendor to help you.
** Typical parts price for what's required likely less than or little more than 15$
