Default Must it be removed?

I did some searching, and what i could uncover is "take to bolts out, replace thermostat, seal up, add coolant. burp, top off, Send it!!
Must i remove the throttle body, i order to get to the egr solenoid, to get to the rear-most t-stat housing bolt?? Also, there seems to be a decent amount of leaves, behind my injectors.. i pulled out what i could..
But anyway, will i need to remove throttle body to get to the egr solenoid, to inititally, get to that rear t-stat housing bolt???? Any means of insight, is greatly appreciated.

i think u know the answer based on the tools u have on hand.

compressed air can blow out alot of junk under the plenum. a strategically placed shop vac sucking out the opposite side can collect alot it while blowing

Default No compressed air, at the moment...

VikingTrad3r,
I got the majority of them free and out.. leaves that is. So yes, even though I have plenty of tools at my disposal, I still wanted to know. Welps, looks like the throttle body's coming off...
There aren't a lot of earlier c4 coolant systems video's on utube. And the few I viewed, the EGR solenoid wasn't fastened down. I believe this is the OEM thermostat!! lol.. if that's the only issue with it "running hot, then parked for >4yrs" I'm a Lucky Dog!!!

Whaleman:
I know what your saying. First off, it needs 4 tires, 5yr old brakes/rotors. It took a fuel pump assembly new pump kit, and manually drain 9 gallons of Gak!!! starts right up, but like you said, I haven't yet did a coolant leak down test.
If it needs a head gasket, I'll do both. The thing is, you have got to be Really dedicated to perform that job, outside in 41F weather. I know for a fact the t-stat wasn't opening.. at all.. that gives some ray of hope. I guess that fixes that, but the initial reason still lingers...it was purchased , knowing it needed a head gasket.. Welps.. "Hope for the Best!, expect the Worst!

Jeff,
memorizing zero page, and working with pointers, and subroutines... exercises the mind!! at least a little bit.. I've taken more pictures of this Corvette than any other car I've owned, and I've only driven it for 2mins. lol..

Default Og!!!

The thermostat and most of the coolant hoses had factory clamps, and look as if they've never been replaced!! Got TB off, came home, and the coolant bypass hose arrived!!! now to gently unclip the CTS harness, replace it, and both sending units in each head, thermostat and gasket, and I'm in business. Also managed to snag a throttle body gasket KIT!!!! I'm only concerned about the mating surface gasket, and will rebuild TB down the road..

Got 8 plugs, and a BNIB set of plug wires from Jeg's!! thatz next, "accel" ignition module, and also accell cap & rotor.....

Default Of course...

The Coolant Temp Sensor, that plugged into the middle of the engine, up front.. that sensor broke so fast my head spun!!! Ended up getting a new Sending unit, and pigtail soldered ,and heat shrank both wires. The sending unit in the drivers side head was also replaced, with a new, single wire pigtail. Then the passenger side hemisphere, the Gauge sending unit was replaced, and luckily its connection is simply a spade connector. New thermostat (195F), and felpro gasket. New throttle body mating gasket. If it gets hot now, before we use the chemicals, I'm going to halt, and begin removing the cylinder heads. If i can keep the temperature controlled, then i didn't do too bad. Would anybody reading this know perhaps, where the sensor that illuminates the "Low Coolant" light in the info center/? the overflow reservoir is topped off. (Not by me). IIRC someone already answered that question, but for the Life of me, I cannot seem to retrieve that thread, post, reply. If it's the single wire unit on passenger side of radiator??, then, "Thank You for verifying that.. again"

Default heeehhe toldja so ..............

Whaleman:
I must have gotten lucky!! fires right up, idles flawlessly too i might add. Temperature slowly climbs until it's ~ 195F, t-stat opens, and the temp re-starts it's journey @ ~172F. I witnessed this 4 or 5 cycle. None of the fans come on, but its not seeing much more than ~195F. Now the system has only been tested at idle. Later on this morning, I'll be going for cruise number two. Am putting gas in it, and testing shocks... next item shocks, then tires. The if I don't already need them, cap rotors, ignition module, and cap cover. Going to try and get 8 plugs and wires changed out today. Get gas, and install new plugs/wires. Ott, she's behaving alright..

Default tomorrow..

Got a great deal on 4 brand new 275/40-zr17 tires today. She'll be on the lift early tomorrow, and installing tires. Should I eliminate the TPMS?? (I haven't visually seen the sensors.) I don't know if there on a band attached to the inner rim, or fastened onto the valve stem. Yes, my car had this feature when it was built. IDK How it works in an '89??? Lights not on now, and I'm sure the tires aren't inflated correct?? just to ease my mind, shud i put 4 new stems in, and eliminate the whole thing of failing, and leaving me stranded at 711 parking lot.

I'm also going to inspect it, and put stickers on it. Brakes look new, feel like dung, but has a good pedal. And I'm going to begin driving it tomorrow. wish me luck. The thermostat was the culprit after all.. i 'll report back after my first real cruise..
