After starting a cold L98 engine. at what point does the engine go to closed loop?
I'm just interested as I have O2 sensor problems and the SES light comes on after I have been driving for a bit and an explanation on this would clarify a few things
Cheers
Tim
That will explain why the SES light comes on after it warms up. Just trying to get my head round it to make sure I fix the right bit first time.
Thanks for that.

Re: Closed loop.... When? (timallard)
One O2 sensor on the drivers side y-pipe near the exhaust manifold.
Code 44 means ecm has gone closed loop, but O2 voltage is below 0.2V for more than 50 seconds.
Scanner could be a real help! I'd check for a shorted O2 sensor wire. Also you could be running very, very lean.
A source of false air into the exhaust such as an exhaust leak near the O2 sensor, faulty AIR diverter valve might cause the sensor to see a false lean condition. You could also disconnect the MAF sensor and see if the false lean condition goes away.
{edit} Could also have a shorted O2 sensor, never had one fail that way.
