Default Oil Filter Adapter-Extra Part

I'm replacing the oil filter adapter seals on my '96-I forgot to put the washer on one of the bolts so redoing it. I noticed theres a plate as well as a gasket on mine. I didn't think anything of it until I double checked the manual for the torque. There is no plate in the manual-just the gasket and o ring. Anyone else have this?

Yeah-I was doing all kinds of gaskets. When I put it back together with new gasket/oring I, a) way overtightened the bolts and 2) left one of the washers off. It was pouring oil just from cranking the engine. I ended up putting it back together without the plate and the right torque. No leaks.

I just did mine about 1 month ago. I have a 1995. I did not have that extra plate shown in your picture. I had just what my manual stated, a gasket, an O-ring, and 2 bolts/washers.
