Default Need help Identifying a 700r4.

I would like to make sure that this tranny was the orignal in my 88. The two numbers I found:
On side need speedo cable, above pan: 8663551
Near input shaft on from plate: 8654732
Any help would be great!
Thanks

P.S. it also has a big "V" on each side of the bellhousing.

Look on the passenger side at the back of the pan seal lip, just above the pan gasket, there is a stamped code. You may have to clean some debris/grease to see it.

Should be a number or two followed by a letter or two and some more numbers. My book goes by that number so list it.

This should help also....

Location as stated earlier, should be stamped into the transmission case on the right side, just above the trans pan.

Good luck...

Found these pics that I took of my '85s 700R4 during my rebuild this past October...my '85s code is different from your '88s, location should be the same though.

hope they help...
