700R4 gearing update
Once upon a time when I was very young there was a vendor who offered replacement gears for the 700R4 transmission. In essence, first gear was now available in the mid twos. Possibly about 2.4. The first gear ratio was decreased from 3.06 to 2.4, maybe even less. Does anyone remember who supplied these transmission gears?

If you take that Sonnax kit and swap in a 3.33 D44, you have very close to the final gear ratio as a 3.07 and the stock ratios from the transmission. It tightens the others up a little and you don't lose much from the top end while still having plenty of acceleration from a stop, turning it into a true close ratio automatic
2.84 x 3.33 = 9.46
3.06 x 3.07 = 9.39
2.84 x 3.33 = 9.46
