Default TPis Mini Ram Intake

HI Guys,

I hope our well.

I have an 88 C4, with stock engine and the current mods i have done so far, are new long tube headers with a 3inch pipe and Xpipe, smog pump delete and the usual coolant bypass and larger air filter and modified box.

I'm looking at installing the TPIS Mini Ram II intake 1204 with 58mm throttle body on the stock engine!

Will this increase the HP on the stck engine or make a difference?, I will modify the engine later on.

Thanks Doukas

Yes, it will. See THIS POST in a lengthy thread where I tested several "hot '80's intakes!"
The outcome has plusses of course, and minuses...made worse w/no tune, I'm sure. Enjoy the read.

58mm not needed on a stock engine. You should see around a 50 hp gain ish! You’ll be able to rev it now.

I’ve driven a 350 with a Miniram, tuned but 1990 cam and valve train, anemic below 5K but once you have a 383+ and can take advantage of the extra displacement and it’s good up top, but the valve train to support over 6K needs attention (sheet metal rockers limit is 5500ish, OEM rollers limit 5800ish, valve springs 5800ish, bottom end is 6000ish, heads don’t make power above that either.)

No, I don't think you're going to see 30, 40 or 50 hp on a stock engine. Did you see the dyno sheets I posted?

You might get a 25rwhp increase if you tune it for the new intake...which would still be a 10% increase in power. I would skip the 58mm throttle body and use that money for a tune instead. Even my 396 with great heads and significant cam ( lots more power than an L98 with intake, IOW) still only had a 52mm TB and didn't suffer at all from that.
