I believe there are about 6 screws.......2 in the defrost opening area and the rest under the lip edge.
Good luck,

I've done it a hundred times. You might need to remove the guage cluster piece to get to the screws going from the tabs behind this piece up into the dash, then the two going from the center I/P up into the dash, the two long ones on each side of the defroster opening on top of the dash and, on some cars there is one on the passenger side behind the fuse panel going up into the dash. I would remove the ones at the defroster opening and along the underside of the instrument panel, and if it won't come out I would look for the one by the fuse panel. Another important tip: make sure not to do all this pulling and squeezing on the dashboard when it is cold, or it may crack. Park it outside for a while in the sun and let it warm up first.

When reinstalling, take your time and make sure all of the tabs go into thier holes on the front of the dash. Also make sure that the clips on the passenger side catch the plastic lip which holds it in place. A little patience here will pay off in the end. Don't overtighten the defroster screws or they will just keep right on going through the dash, and you may get cracks around the screw holes.

You may want to consider going to a fabric store and buying some new speaker grille material if yours have turned purple or faded from the sun. Some spray adhesive will work great for recovering them.

When you get all the screws out, just pull straight back, (not up!) There are little metal clips fixed to the styrofoam that could break. You don't have to remove the A-piller plastic or anything. It would probably be a good idea to hit the clips with a little wd-40 so it goes on easier, and so they dont corrode if you ever have to pull it again.

Nice rides you have there vetracer, What off road series are you racing in? The score or snore? I have a good friend that lives in Kingman that I think races the snore events, I believe he runs the class 9. His name Is Joe Sheble just curiuosif you might know him.

Thanks. I don't race off road, that photo is from a recent vacation in Cabo San Lucas. My dad, brother, brother in law and I got a chance to drive off road cars with Bob Bondurant from the Bondurant school of high performance driving here in Chandler and one of his friends along the coast of Baja. Because we were with Bob and have racing experience we were able to really tear it up in the rented baja cars and have fun. (they took off the governors and turned us loose on our own, something they normally don't do). It's not a Corvette, but hey, it does have a fiberglass body!

Check out the HUGE cruise ship in the background!
