What is the consensus on a sticky thread listing members willing to offer local tuning help and their location? I can start-Southern Calif. San Bernardino area. Using Tunercat and their RT Tuner.
It would be great. I'm in So Cal too. I spend a couple hours reading on what to do only to get lost in technical discussions that don't really explain the actual steps. I have Tunerpro, moates chip burner, a couple of chips, cord, and a laptop. I got as far as datalogging and trying to read my chip. For whatever reason the file that Tunerpro uses to datalog didn't work to read my chip.
All my tuning experience is with my 90 L98, so I am always a little leery of trying to help someone else,
That being said I do have a playlist on data logging and tuning that many people say helps.
Here is a link to the play list https://www.youtube.com/playlist?lis...dktX0orGjpxz6v

I used to use the pocket programmer. A lot of the older programs don't work on newer windows. I now use the GQ Universal EPROM Programmer for reading and programming proms. For datalogging I still have an old laptop with Diacom-still works! Also Tunercat has a datalog for OBD1 that works well. Tunercat is one of the few who still update and support OBD1 software. I now run the EBL P4 but have helped out quite a few friends with different years and have kept my software updated. If you're near my area I'm more than glad to help.
I think this would only apply to hot rodders who happen to own corvettes (or cars with L-98 engines) I'm game, I've been using Tuner Pro on mine since I did my swap in 2007. I'm in Apollo Beach FL ( near Tampa 0
I hope the OP will pardon my question. I could use some help with a schematic for the ALDL data cable. I found one online but not sure I want my ECM to be my test bed for an online schematic. It's possible it came from this site. Some had transistors, and that confused me a little. my ECM is 1227165.

I think that is from thirdgen-not sure though. It is an older post-the FTDI USB to serial port adaptors are a lot more than 10 dollars now. It's been a while so off hand I don't remember which resistor is for which baud rate. The older ECMs had a slower baud rate and required a different resistor. Personally I just bought a cable premade-it has a switch on it for different baud rates.
Thank you drive it for the help, my ECM is 1227165. Not that I don't have the money but am trying to trim my 87's appetite for it. Making a cable would help that by appx 60 bucks.
Adding to the confusion a little is the FSM calling out a 10k mode and the mention of 10k ohm resistors, lots to figure out between the cable, Tuner Pro and the data.
2nd Update, looks like the cable shipped is appx 80 bucks.
