Hey, new member here. Just got my first ‘Vette, and loving it so far, a 1994 C4 in Polo Green. The car is very solid, 113k miles.
Currently, however, having an issue with the transmission- it seems sometimes the shifter doesn’t want to fully grab into either 1st, or into 3rd from 2nd. It sort of goes in halfway, doesn’t engage correctly, or more commonly is just tough to fully put in. It’s also pretty stiff moving left to right in neutral.
Check the FAQ section on zfdoc.com. it goes over a scenario similar to that. Also, is it the stock shifter or a short throw? On my 92 6 speed I was concerned I had transmission issues when I first got it. The PO installed a B&M short throw shifter. It is a common complaint on these that it makes shifting really difficult. Mine doesn't grind into any of the gears, it just requires more force since it is a shorter lever.
My 91 has 60k miles and acts the exact same way occasionally. I have a Core short throw but the car was stock when I purchased it. It’s never been the slickest transmission, especially if you’re comparing it to something like a T56 or TR6060.
