Default Progressively worse acceleration...

Hey guys! I've made a post regarding acceleration issues before, but I've noticed things are getting a bit worse.
I drive a 1996 LT1 Automatic, with around 80K miles on the odometer. I got the about a year ago, and I've just done minor things here and there to maintain it. Primarily, I had to swap out the old fuel-sending unit with a new one, ended up needing to swap out the fuel filter and pump as well because the sock fell off when I was reinstalling the whole unit and it clogged up the fuel system. Anyways, that was months ago and it solved an issue I had with hard starting and incorrect fuel gauge measurements.

Lately, I've been noticing something strange. I'm a pretty rowdy and rambunctious driver, so I like to drop the gas pedal whenever I get the chance. I've begun to notice that, when I do drop the pedal, my car likes to rev up as normal, but will stick around (or even past) the red line for a bit bouncing around in the higher revs before the car shifts into gear. I notice a considerable power drop when my car is up in these higher revs, and my car just doesn't accelerate like before. The gas pedal isn't as responsive as it once was, and driving in automatic overdrive feels a lot weaker than before. I'm not so technically or mechanically inclined, so I'm hoping it's not something too serious. I've considered a lot of things, and my current plan is to get a proper tune-up done on the car just to make sure I'm working with fresh plugs, wires, filters, etc... I've gotten a few responses so far telling me it could be signs of my optispark going bad. The weirdest part of this all is that it seems to get a lot better once the car is fully warmed up and at operating temp. It'll accelerate and push power better, but at times it'll still try to push towards 5-6K rpms for a bit before power actually gets to the wheels. There are very few and rare times when my car will still have a tough time trying to start up, but it usually only lasts a couple of seconds before firing up nice and strong. It happens maybe once in 20 or 30 starts as of late. Apart from that, I don't know what else could be going on. I have gotten a P0400 code for my EGR valve, but it seems to just come and go, and I have already replaced the EGR valve in the past few months too... so I'm really at a lot as to what the cause could be. Like I said, I'll try dropping the gas and the tachometer will quickly rev up to 5K+ rpms and just hold there for a few seconds, and if I leave my foot on the gas it'll bounce back and forth at these high rpms, barely accelerating like it once used to. Maybe it's a tranny related issue? I just ask that if anyone has experienced the same issues or problems before, please do tell and let me know what you did to fix em, or if anyone has any suggestions to improve my car's responsiveness, please do tell!

Valve float will do that. Each time you float them the springs get weaker and they float at a lower RPM. Just a thought.
