1996 vortec

I have a 1996 vortec with a scoggin Dickey TPI manifold, am wondering if I should use water pump for 96 block or if the 86 water pump is able to be used on the 96 block.

I also am also using a 96 vortec truck block in my 86. The blocks are the same, but you have to use the corvette water pump which is shorter or the pulleys won't line up.

Just make sure you run a bypass hose from the intake to the water pump. The older sbc had the bypass that was in the block but vortecs lack this feature.

Since the corvette water pump has the third hole for the coolant bypass, which gasket will I need to use? Will I have to plug the bypass hole on the vette water pump? Or will the gaskets be able to seal the hole ?

Is the mounting pad on the vortec block large enough to seal the traditional sbc w/p gasket? If so, then use it.
