Default CCM differences

Hello,

I have 1992 C4 where was CCM death. New or even rebuild units are quite difficult to found.
RockAuto have had allmost every week one on shop, number: 16159188. But unit which was on car is other: 88999216 and this one hasn't come to shop.
So, now wondering what is differences on these 2 CCM? Would that other work? For me, no mather with VIN or mileage...

16159188 would have been the original OE for '92 & '93, the 88999216 would have been a number change and a service part for the OE 16159188. Internal differences (none that would hinder operation). What is the label on your 1992 now?

What makes you feel you need a CCM? Diagnostics that hint CCM replacement?

Doesn't crank/start, digital screen death. Will crank if bybass ccm, but of course doesn't start because ccm still doesn't give permission for injectors.
100% it's death. It's not even original, because label says that ccm is 1995... so it's replaced once before....
Noe wonderin what can kill it, I have opened whole interior/dash harness but haven't found anything yet. Maybe problems on ground...?

Since you're not concerned with mileage and VIN then you could (I believe prefered anyway) just buy a used from a '92 or '93 and then you would only have to use a procedure to match the resistance the CCM desires for CRANK/Fuel Enable or use a device for Fuel Enable. They're quite inexpensive and not a difficult install to wire. Even if a RA purchase was an option you would still need to do a 'relearn' of whatever key. I'd prefer a used vs an RA purchase. If you could locate a '92 or '93 in Finland or close and if they had it currently in a car that CRANKS/RUNS you would only have to cut your key on a key with matching resistance or just do a resistor by-pass for CRANK.

I don't believe the RA buy is wise!

Pay no attention to the RA info tags.

Both CCM are identical. You DO NOT want to use RA as a source for a CCM for your car. NEVER RA for anything ECM, PCM or an electronic module of any sort for your car.

Do you have a contact in the USA who can forward parts to you in Finland?

Have you checked Finnish sources, might even be cheaper than overseas WVZR-1 definitely knows what he's talking about.

It's a long shot but capacitor replacement might revive the old unit too.

Unfortunately replacing all the electrolytic capacitors would be most practical. That didn't fix my tuner box but did fix the AC programmer and speaker amps.

You can reset VIN and odometer? You can change/clear the 'key' resistance the CCM expects to see? OP actually doesn't have a 'correct' for his car. He mentions having a '95 CCM and I believe, car is a '92.
