Default Mid 1989 steering ratio change

So can anyone verify this tidbit of Corvette trivia?

1984-1988 Corvettes had standard fast ratio steering (about 2 turns lock-to-lock)
late 1989-1996 had a slower standard ratio steering, but fast ratio was optional.

In the EARLY 1989 cars Bowling Green used up the left over “fast” racks. My ‘89 is early (built September 88) among the first 6000. It has a fast rack but no RPO code for it. My steering seems to be 2 turns lock-to-lock, maybe even 1.9 or so.

On the build sheet (if you have) what is the Block 20 information? I believe block 20 is steering? On the car, is there a 2 letter code on the 'end cap'?

Early 89 I believe often had quick ratio steering rack and some had 3.54 ratio rear end.

Quick ratio steering rack you can't tell from RPO codes, but the steering rack itself has an "NS" marking on the cap. Also can tell by counting turns.

3.54 rear gear had RPO code GH0

Thanks - I’ll look for “NS”
