hey y’all, in Aug 2021 I bought a red w/saddle leather interior 1987 C4 coupe with an L98 automatic and an aftermarket chip, I’ve put 2,000 miles on it since reviving it, so far I’ve had to replace a power window switch, starter, alternator, and a brake line by the ABS computer, I’m probably just enough of a mechanic to get in trouble, I was pulling out my driveway and it acted like it ran out of gas with 3/4 tank, it holds 40 psi fuel pressure, in 6 hours it fades down to 20 psi, it runs on starting fluid so it’s not ignition, it’s not the pump with it priming 2 seconds up to 45 psi then settling in at 40 psi and holding with slightly noticeable leak down, I’ve had 4 people listen for injector clicking, none of us can hear any injector clicking at any time, could it be the aftermarket chip that’s failed? I can’t believe all 8 injectors failed at once, how do I test the ECU/ECM? what do I test next? I wasn’t aware of a fuel regulator until 30 minutes ago, I can’t see that being the problem with it holding pressure as long as it does, DM’s are appreciated if they’re allowed here, snosurphr@aol here’s my 3 girlfriends, in the garage behind the Model A is a 1972 C3 roadster going thru a body off restoration, I’ve got a 1969 Mustang Mach 1, and a 1977 Mercury Grand Marquis Brougham 4-door hardtop, a 1998 Cadillac DeVille I inherited, a 2002 PT Cruiser, and a 2010 Ford Focus winter beater, I’d love to get my Corvette back on the road, thanks for any suggestions on the C4 only running on starting fluid with 40 psi rail pressure, I’m wondering if the aftermarket chip crapped out
… thanks in advance for any help
Welcome to the Forum, Terry, and congratulations on your C4!
This is more of just a "hello" section.
I would encourage you to post your question in the C4 Tech section at: https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...-1984-1996-19/.
Best wishes for an easy (and inexpensive) fix!
