Car was going great but right in the middle of driving the other day I lost 3rd gear. 1st and 2nd are great as ever. If you start in drive without over drive it will pull fine until it needs to shift into 3rd then it does nothing but slip. If you lock it into 2nd gear and get to highway speed (60mph or so) then go to drive WITH overdrive it will shift into overdrive just fine. So my problem seems to only be 3rd gear. It is a 87 Corvette with a 700r4 with about 115k miles. I'm just wondering if anyone has any tips or can point me to the appropriate forum. I am very new with forums and don't know how to find stuff very well just yet.

Once it is in 4th, what happens if you give it acceleration?
That is pretty much what I was afraid of. Guess I need to try and sell this thing I definitely can't fix it. Certainly no mechanic here. Going to be hard needing transmission work though =/
Yeah for sure there is. I am going to pull it out myself in probably a couple of weeks and have someone rebuild it. Parts shouldn't be to hard to get for it even buying them myself. I do manage a parts store after all. If I get it rebuilt is it worth is to go with a HD rebuild?
