help I have a problem ,after about twenty kilometers the ASR light turned on immediately after the red service engine light the cooling fans lit up together, but the engine was not very hot . return home and turn off the engine and disconnect the battery. After a few hours I turn on the engine after a few seconds the cooling fans and the red engine service light. Error codes are h62 and h72 what happened?
hi thanks for the reply my corvette is from 1992 and the error codes are h62 and h72 in module 9 i don't see h64 i tried to access the engine, it starts but the red ASR light is gone only service engine and the radiator cooling fans but the engine is cold
Sorry my bad, I meant h62. I have edited my post. So you are stating you are getting fans on and SES on when starting every time now? Did you leave the paper clip in (with paper clip in when you turn to “run” the fans will come on and is normal, you want to remove it before running).
If you are actually setting a code that is illuminating the SES light you should be seeing codes on Module 4 (ECM). Check again?
Anyway I am suspicious about your ICM but you need to know what code the ECM is throwing…

I have never turned on the engine with the staples inside the odb ,I used the staples to see the codes, it can only be the oil sensor because it is exhausted h62? and does the pia service engine turn on soon?
Module 4 code indicates optispark issue. code 16 indicates loss of low resolution pulse from the OPTI (this is what is illuminating your SES light while running). Module 9 H62 indicates loss of tach signal (which would also be a symptom of loss of opti pulse since the opti goes to the ECM and the ECM uses that to generate the pulse that Module 9 piggybacks on for the tach). I got code H62 on module 9 among others due to an ICM issue, however the H16 would indicate that the issue is upstream with the opti itself and nothing to do with the ICM...
What brand opti did you use? Unfortunately a lot of them are junk and either don't work out of the box or fail quickly/with heat. It would also be worth inspecting/reseating the opti harness.
Do you have any "running" issues? Also note, I believe you have to clear the module 9 errors (once you've addressed your problem) via the dash (i.e. pulling the battery does not clear them)
I would assume whatever opti it was has some sort of warranty as would the shop hopefully honor their work….
Why was the original opti replaced? The pic of it sure looks like it was broken from the *outside* (ie someone prying against it say to remove the balancer. That doesn’t bode well for the shop that did this work…
when this code came out about 5 months ago the mechanic replied that the ECM did not recognize the optispark but everything was normal. Maybe he told me so many lies?
optispark was replaced because the engine does not start and when it worked 7/6/5 cylinders went but unfortunately the warranty lasts one year and now I can't do anything more
