Hello all,
as I have posted before, I had a stud stap off at the head on the Number 8 exhaust valve. I will be pulling out the old one and attempting to press in a new stud with the head on the car. If the press on stud does not grab I plan to thread in a new stud. I fully understand the importance of precise threading if that ends up being my only option.
My question is, is an overall stud length of 2.5" correct for the stock L98. I also see studs at 2.38". After combing the web I have not been able to find a clear answer. Any advice would be great. Thanks

I'm not sure on the stud length, but wanted to throw something else out that a friend just ran into with the same problem. Check how low on the stud that the rocker sits. If you get a thread in stud they have a machined area at the bottom for a wrench to fit in order to tighten it. On his the rocker hit that area. He had to get longer pushrods to gain clearance at the bottom.
That is a really good question! I will measure them. I plan to dig into the issue over labor day weekend. I'm currently working on my wife's Subaru. But yes, this makes sense. I'm trying to avoid pulling the heads, if that ends up being the solution, then I'm
